Long Celebrity Hair Everyone Dreams Of

Monday, April 30th, 2007

First up its Kate Beckinsale with fine loose curls that look stunning. I love her when she is a brunette; it suits her so much more. Kate’s style is one that I always dream of achieving but never succeed, I suppose if I had a personal stylist then my hair might look like that!

This is one of my favourite pictures of Reese Witherspoon, she looks so natural and so beautiful. The photograph was taken at the 2007 Oscars where she was voted as one of the best dressed and as having one of the best tresses!

Here is Giselle looking beautiful as ever with her perfect curly locks. God I wish I could get my hair to look like this, I would also love my hair to grow to this length! She should definitely win an award for her continuous luscious locks.

Last But not least its Hayden Panettiere, known best by us Brits for her role as Claire in Heroes – we love that program! At only 17 she is already becoming a style icon and has been snapped in many situations with gorgeous hair styles. These long blonde curls are extremely elegant and make her look so grown up.

What Hair Style Suits Your Face Shape?

Friday, April 27th, 2007

I’m pretty certain that every girl at some point in her life wonders what hair style would suit her best. Over on UKHairdressers there’s now a virtual hairstyle guide that can help answer this question.

First you simply need to identify what shape face you have (heart shaped, round shaped, oval shaped, long shaped or square shaped) and then read up on the hairstyle that’s best suited to your individual shape. Don’t worry if you’re unsure of what shape your face is, there’s instructions on how to determine this.

Personally I have a square shaped face (doesn’t sound very good does it?!) so I’d suit a style that’s feathered at the top and soft around my eyes. The best part about the virtual hairstyle guide is that you can upload your own photo to see what the style would actually look like! Find out what style would suit you …

Control Freak Super Straight Hair

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

Bed Head Control FreakIf you need a head start on your straightners or fear that heat styling is causing too much damage then this little product could come in handy. It is a liquid foam that you run through your locks while still wet then comb through evenly. The product is activated by heat so when you begin to blow dry it will begin to smooth and straighten your hair.

I found that in order for the product to work successfully you need to have semi-straight hair to begin with, if you have curly hair this product is not for you! It also works well as a syrem, smoothing away frizzy ends and giving a much sleeker appearance.

I would recommend using Control Freak with Bed Head Headrush, you’ll get a super shiny finish and the smells compliment each other nicely.

VO5 Perfect Lengths Range

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

If like me, you have long, naturally wavy hair then the new Perfect Lengths range from VO5 could be just what you need to gain control back of your locks. I don’t know how I survived without my straighteners but using them every day for the last 5 or 6 years has damaged my hair and I find it a lot harder to control it now than when I first started using them – probably because my hair’s so used to them that it doesn’t straighten as well as it did at first.

I’ve tried new straighteners but, as any experienced straightener knows, they’re pretty expensive to keep replacing. So this Perfect Lengths range is a great way of reviving long hair for use with straighteners; prep your hair with one of the styling products (the range includes high gloss finishing crème, styling mousse, detangling crème and shine serum mist) then simply blow dry and straighten as usual. The products contain a keratin straightening complex to help strengthen and protect. I tend to use them every so often and not every day – just when you feel your hair needs it, that way your locks won’t become too used to the product.

The styling products are all £2.99 each (far cheaper than a new pair of straighteners!) and there is also shampoo and conditioner available for £2.19 each.

Take the VO5 hair test to find out which products are best suited for your hair.

Ghd His and Hers Gift Sets

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

ghd gift Set for HerThese little ghd gift sets are a great idea for birthday presents, anniversaries or even Father’s Day (coming up in June). The set ‘for her’ consists of a soft cream leather bag, a new ghd styler and the following travel size ghd products: guardian shampoo and conditioner, opulence mask, thermal protector and obedience cream. The women’s set costs £155 on the ghd website.

ghd gift Set for HimThe set ‘for him’ is very similar consisting of a soft brown leather bag, a mini ghd style and the following ghd products: tenderness shampoo, thermal protector, texture lotion and sculpting wax. The gift for him costs slightly less than the women’s version at £130 on the ghd website.

The bags would also be ideal for travelling – you can ensure your hair is always in tip top condition! Both male and female sets are also available at HQ Hair.

Are You a Dumb Blonde?

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

Bed Head Dumb BlondeThis reconstructor for highlighted, damaged or chemically treated hair is perfect if you have put your hair through a lot of colour treatment or stress over the years. The conditioner is packed with proteins and helps repair the damage that colour unfortunately causes.

The only thing I didn’t like about the product was the smell; unlike other leading hair products that smell of chocolate or fruits, I thought it smelt a little like plasticine which put me off a bit.

Aside from this the product does work pretty well and leaves hair feeling soft and conditioned. It is called Dumb Blonde and is made by TIGI Bed Head, available at HQ Hair for just £12.65.

Sunsilk – Which One Are You?

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

Sunsilk RangeWhen the Sunsilk range first hit the shops I was a little sceptical about buying because to be honest, the cheesy American TV adverts put me off a bit. However, while walking into Boots I saw the range on the shelf and was amazed at how cheap the products actually are. If they do what they said they do every girl should have luscious locks!

I like the fact they have created something for everybody, no matter what condition your hair is in there is a product you can use. I bought the Sunsilk Anti-flat volumising cream and must say it does give my hair a bit more volume – combined with blow drying upside down!

They have also made there packaging really appealing; each colour means a different hair condition; I am blue – flat and lifeless. What colour are you?

ghd Thermal Protectors

Monday, April 16th, 2007

ghd Thermal ProtectorsMy hair gets easily damaged when I use straightners so I never put any heat on my hair without spraying first with my ghd Thermal Protector. There are three options depending on your hair type; weak and damaged hair, dry and coarse hair or normal-fine hair. I have weak and damaged hair from too much colouring and I find that this product works really well.

Not only does it stop my hair from damaging so much, it smells great and leaves my hair feeling fresh and shiny until I wash it again. The ghd website consists of a whole range of products to help treat and protect your hair from straightners and other heated stylers. The Thermal Protector spray costs £9.95 and has lasted me since last summer.

Chocolate Head – How Yummy :)

Friday, April 13th, 2007

Bed Head Chocolate HeadI made the mistake of colouring my hair from a very early age and using hair straightners quite often therefore my hair tends to be quite dry and damaged. A hair dresser at my old salon recommended Bed Head Chocolate Head to me so I bought some and tried it out.

To be honest I expected a little more from the product, the label suggests it restores and deeply conditions dry, damaged or chemically treated hair but I didn’t really see a dramatic change. I would recommend using this product sparsely, maybe just once or twice a week. I made the mistake of using it every night and I think my hair got too used to the treatment.

Even if this product doesn’t do anything for your hair it is worth buying just for the smell of it; it’s gorgeous, I almost wanted to eat it! Better still, your hair will have a delightful hint of chocolate to it for days afterwards. You can buy Chocolate Head from HQ Hair for just £9.85, give it a go just for the smell of it!

L'Oreal Because You're Worth It

Friday, April 13th, 2007

L’Oreal LogoL’Oreal has been right on the mark with its advertising campaign with the likes of Penelope Cruise, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Aniston and Eva Longoria fronting their TV adverts. My personal favourite is Penelope Cruise, I love the way she says ‘Go On, Because you’re Worth It’ in her beautiful Spanish accent.

Also I must say that I much prefer the ads now they use the phrase ‘Because You’re Worth It’ rather than ‘Because I’m Worth It’, in my opinion it makes the celebrities seem so much nicer and less stuck up. I’m a big fan of L’Oreal Elvive shampoo and conditioners; they make my hair feel and smell so great.
