Nicky Clarke Frizz Control Rollers

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Nicky Clarke RollersThis little pack would make a great gift set for a friend’s birthday or for yourself! The set includes twelve frizz control heated rollers covered in thermoplastic rubber to retain heat and help grip your hair and easy grip hair clips to hold the rollers in place. Each roller has a red dot that turns white when heated up ready to use so you’ll never put your rollers in too soon again.

The rollers come neatly packaged in a cute Nicky Clarke bag so you can store them away in your wardrobe or on a shelf. The set costs just £20 and is available on the Next website. Nicky Clarke hair dryer (£17) and straighteners (£19) also available here.

Virtual Hair Styler

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Recently we wrote about a cool virtual hairstyle website where you can upload your photo and see what style suits your face. Well I have now found another fabulous site that offers the same service but is much easier to use. The website is called Make Over Solutions, you need to sign up to use it but it’s definitely worth a go!

Make Over Solutions DemoYou can upload a photo of yourself or use the models provided to see what hair suits the different shape faces, you never know – you could find an outrageous style that you never dreamed would suit you.

I love these sites, they allow you to chop off, colour, extend or style your hair without actually having to go to the hairdressers!

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

Philip Kingsley’s ElasticizerIf you’re lucky enough to be jetting off to the sun this summer there’s one product you’ve got to try.

Philip Kingsley’s Elasticizer contains super-moisturisers which stop hair breaking, and UV protection to guard you locks from the sun’s harmful rays. Apparently you pop it in your hair before shampooing to help your hair remain strong.

If, like me, your hair feels like straw when you’re away and you get back looking as if you haven’t styled it for months then this could be the best £22 you spend this year!

BaByliss BEliss Hot Air Styler

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

Babyliss Beliss StylerIf you have short hair and find it difficult to style then the BaByliss BEliss styler could be your new best friend. Apparently Sarah Harding from Girls Allowed swears by it and uses it to control her newly chopped bob. As all of us who’ve had short hair in the past probably realised, short hair is harder and can take longer to style.

The BEliss is deigned specifically for shorter styles, it dries your hair quickly while straightening and smoothing at the same time. This is also an excellent product if you are too lazy to spend the 10 minutes or so drying your hair then 20 minutes straightening afterwards!

On first glance it just looks like a big purple brush but if you look at the styler closely you’ll see that the teeth of the comb actually have ceramic plates against them enabling you to brush, blow dry and straighten at the same time – pure brilliance!

Available at Amazon.co.uk for £25.

Beautiful Summer Waves Using Your GHD's

Monday, May 21st, 2007

I have medium length hair and often try to curl it using my ghd straightners or with curling tongs. The technique I have always used does work but sometimes I think my hair looks a little bit too curly. This technique is shown below by a ghd model.

Yesterday I found another ghd video on YouTube about how to get perfect summer waves rather than curls. I have also pasted this video below for you to have a look at. This is the style I have been trying to achieve for months but didn’t realise I was using the completely wrong technique.
I tested the new method yesterday evening after I found the demonstration and it works really well on my hair. The model shows the technique in great detail but to be honest her hair doesn’t really do it justice. Give it a try and let me know how you got on with it.

Jessica Alba Spices Things Up

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

Jessica Alba is your typical girl next door; she’s beautiful, sweet and has that innocent appearance that men go crazy for. Well here are some photo’s of her showing us a bit of a feisty side with a series of sexy hair-do’s that scream style.

There are many pictures of Jessica Alba that don’t really look like her but in all of these I think she looks fabulous. There are a number of hair styles you can pick up from this clip and try out on your own hair.

Short, Sassy Styles

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

It seems the new chic trend is short, chopped tresses. Victoria Beckham, Selma Blair and Naomi Campbell are just a few of the celebs opting for a sexy short cut, proving that you don’t have to have lengthy locks to look stunning.

If you have a long face, a short cut will make your hair look thicker and your face wider, so now’s a great time to get that cut you’ve been putting off – go for it, the celebs are!

However if you have a wider face, that’s more square shaped, be careful of short hair cuts – they will only exaggerate the squareness of your face shape! Stick to the lengthy styles that suit your look.

Style Icon Kelly Brook

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

Kelly Brook is world renowned for her curvaceous body and beautiful hair, she is one of those annoying people who looks gorgeous no matter what time of day it is. This image shows Kelly looking stunning and summery with the beach swept look, showing off her natural beauty even more.

To get this look, try curling just the bottom and the front few sections of your hair; this will give the bulk of the hair less volume making it look like the curls are natural. Then take the front section of your hair and pin back with a kirby grip.

Beautiful Wedding Curls

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

Beautiful Wedding CurlsI love this updo; it’s so glamorous and would be perfect for a wedding or prom. All you need to do to get this look is tie your hair into a ponytail then pick up small sections at a time and use your straightners to curl each section.

Using Kirby grips, pick up each curl and grip the end of the section to your hair 2-3 inches from the hair band. Make sure you spread the curls evenly around the hair band in a circle.

Last but not least decorate the style with some diamante hair clips and secure a tiara at the front of the curly creation!

Batiste Dry Shampoo

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

As the festival season draws closer it’s inevitable that your luscious locks won’t stay so luscious if you’re planning to spend the weekend in a tent. There’s one hair product you simply shouldn’t be allowed to leave the house without if you’re off to a festival this year – Batiste Dry Shampoo. This tropical version is available for £1.99 (bargain) from Amazon.

I also saw a new coconut version advertised recently if you want to go for a really natural, fresh smell. Simply spray this product through your roots as soon as your hair turns a little greasy and it will keep your hair gorgeous for at least another day.

And it’s not only those of you off to a festival that should use this; if you suddenly find yourself in a rush and unable to tend to your hair (or like me, think you can get away with another day without washing it but wake up late and wish you had) this product really can prevent a very bad hair day!
