Ojon Ultra Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

Ultra Hydrating Shampoo and ConditionerPamper your dry, damaged hair with this fabulous shampoo and conditioner that I found on QVC. My hair is hi-lighted and I use straighteners every day, so gets quite dry, especially on the longer bits at the front. I like QVC for beauty products as you can try them out and if you don’t like them for any reason, you can return them within 30 days and they will give you a full refund; you can’t go wrong!!

This product really caught my eye as it contains 100% pure Ojon oil from the tropical Ojon tree found in the tropical forests of Central America. Apparently, The Tawira Indians from this region have used this oil for centuries and they have been nicknamed “the people of beautiful hair”, so I thought I must give it a try!

Mixed with shea butter and sweet almond protein it hydrates your luscious locks to restore moisture and shine and I found it made my hair much more manageable and easier to de-tangle! Both shampoo and conditioner have a lovely light, nutty fragrance which lasts for ages.

It isn’t cheap at £34 plus P&P, but you only need a small amount so it will last for ages!

Head & Shoulders Smooth and Silky

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

Smooth and SilkyI always see loads of adverts on the TV for different types of Head and Shoulders products but the adverts don’t tell you what each range is for. So I thought I should view their website and find out a bit more. Originally Head and Shoulders were just targeted to tackle dandruff but now they have quite a few different ranges designed for every type of hair.

This shampoo is designed to hydrate tired or frizzy hair. It has been specially formulated to pamper the scalp and moisture your hair while adding a silky smooth shine. They also have a conditioner in the same range which helps to keep your hair stay smooth and locks the moisture in. Both the shampoo and conditioner still have the anti dandruff benefits and are available in most supermarkets and on the Superdrug website.

Toni and Guy moisture injection shampooThis moisture injection shampoo from Toni and Guy will boost moisture into your hair using honey Quat and Panthenol. It is ideal for dry, frizzy and damaged hair, made especially to identify and hit the source of damage, straight from the first wash. This shampoo will improve the strength of your hair and its elasticity. It is so important to use a good shampoo as this will achieve great styling results.

The conditioner is also available in the same range and is recommended to be used at the same time. Using these will leave you with healthy hair that is full of vitality. They come in funky pink and silver bottles. For £4.99 you really can’t go wrong, even the packaging looks fab!

A Load Of Bull

Sunday, September 2nd, 2007

BullApparently Hari’s salon in Knightsbridge, London has recently started using Bulls semen to style their customers’ hair! Ugh! Sounds disgusting, but this it is actually a really good hair conditioning treatment. The salon has taken note of Cameron Diaz’s style, remember there’s something about Mary? The comedy? When Cameron’s character Mary accidentally used sperm to style her hair.

The treatment takes around 45 minutes and gives your hair an intensive conditioning experience. The product is made of semen from Aberdeen Angus bulls in a Cheshire farm and the root of a katera plant. The owner of the salon Mr Salem has been searching for the perfect product for a long time and now he has started using this he says it really works. The treatment costs £55, check out www.metro.co.uk for the full article.

Treat Me Right

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

Bed Head Treat Me RightTreat Me Right is yet another must have product from Bed Head. It is found under the conditioners section but it is actually an intensive hair mask that is going to create silky and shiny hair and can be used on all hair types. It not only works wonders on your hair but it refreshes your scalp as well. This hair mask has a yummy peppermint scent so it will leave your locks looking and smelling gorgeous.

It’s not just your skin and body you have to look after, you have to take care of your hair as well, unfortunately the sun and winter weather does more damage than we realise and you won’t actually notice the difference straight away. As you get older, when you’re trying to look younger is when the effects will take their toll. So the label Treat Me Right says it all. Available at HQ Hair for £12.05.

Pantene Pro-V Smooth and Sleek Mask

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

Pantene Smooth and Sleek MaskPantene really do cater for all hair types and colours. This intensive conditioning mask is from the smooth and sleek range and is a treatment to be used to turn dry, straight or wavy hair into gorgeous smooth and silky hair all day long. There is a lot of controversy as to whether these products actually do as the labels say but I have used quite a few of Pantene’s products and I think they work great.

I have always been really pleased with the outcome, so I think I will have to try one of these masks as well. They are available on the Pantene Pro-V Website and are sold in most supermarkets. Unlike many salon based products, these are usually sold at affordable prices.

Even though summer is on its way out, this summer travel bag is ideal for all year round. We have talked about the travel bag before but I thought it was worth another mention since it is now available for £130 from Amazon.co.uk instead of the original £145! The best thing about ghd’s is that they don’t just straighten your hair, you can also use them to give your hair a wave, bouncing curls and flicks.

Tony & Guy Straight Range

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

Tony & Guy StraightWhile flicking through this weeks issue of Closer Magazine I stumbled across an advert for Tony & Guy’s new ‘Straight’ collection. I was instantly drawn to the advert because the model was staring directly at me and she had one of the funkiest haircuts I’ve seen in a while. Obviously their advertising campaign works because I was enticed to look at the products!

The range is available at Boots and consists of Straight and Protect Shampoo and Conditioner, Shine Enhance Shampoo and Conditioner, Straight and Shine Balm, Iron It Defence Spray, Rubber Shine and Finishing Shine Spray. Products are specifically designed to maximise the straightening effect and protect from heat damage of your dryers and stylers. Prices range from £4.99 to £6.99 and all can be bought separately.

Protect Your Hair Properly This Summer

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

Before you start your hardcore sunbathing sessions this summer, think about your poor hair before you step outside and let it sizzle. We wouldn’t lie on the beach in 30 degrees heat without protecting our skin so why is it that so many people forget about their hair? Obviously the consequences of skin damage are much more severe than hair damage but if you want to keep those locks looking luscious then you should really consider protecting it with a high moisture replenishing treatment.

L’Oreal Elvive Anti BreakageWhile reading through my weekly magazine I came across four intensive hair treatments to help protect hair from the heat of the sun. The cheapest product was L’Oreal Elvive Anti Breakage Nutri-Repair Masque. The treatment is specifically designed for dryer hair and helps prevent split ends/breakage, leaving it feeling softer and healthier. At only £4.99 this is definitely a product worth testing, available at auravita.com.

Trevor Sorbie WrapNext up is Trevor Sorbie Professional Replenishing Thermal Wrap. It is a creamy treatment that you leave on for ten minutes or so under a shower cap and allow to soak into your hair thoroughly. It works really well with curly locks and helps manage frizz, only £5.99 from Boots.

Label M Intensive ConditionerToni & Guy’s Label M Intensive Conditioner was next in the line up – a highly moisturising conditioner for chemically treated hair such as colouring or perming. It helps hair become silkier meaning less knots and an overall healthier appearance. Label M is available for £9.95 at Toni & Guy.

Kerastase Soleil MasqueThe most expensive product in the group but the one I hear recommended all the time is Kerastase Soleil Masque UV Defense Active. The treatment is designed for coloured hair and has a UV barrier to help protect the colour from sun damage. It also leaves hair softer, silkier and shinier. If you’ve just had your hair done and you’re off on holiday this product could be a life saver. My hair dresser highly recommended this product, available at HQ Hair for £16.65.
