Winter Hair Care

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Natural Source Almond and Coconut Deep Moisture ConditionerDespite the fact that it rains all time, winter results in dry everything – dry skin, dry lips, and dry hair. During the winter the best plan is to use a shampoo that’s specifically designed to protect damaged hair everytime you wash your hair, helping it to maintain moisture and ultimately prevent it from getting too dry in the first place.

Products with natural ingredients are great for this as using it frequently means you won’t be coating your hair in any chemicals and it won’t lose any of it’s natural oils. Original Source are made with all sorts of lovely smelling things that do wonders for your hair and use 100% natural oils, with no synthetic fragrances. Their Almond and Coconut Deep Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner will make your hair smell delicious, will nourish it, and is mild enough to use all winter, and cost a very reasonable £1.99 each.

Natural Source products are available in most Boots and Superdrug shops.

Aveda – After-Sun Treatment Masque

Monday, July 14th, 2008

Aveda Hair MasqueLast year after coming back from holiday I found that my hair was very dry and damaged, being a sun worshipper I sit out all day long; probably not doing my hair any good. So this year I told myself I wasn’t going to go away on holiday without some treatment for my hair and I was advised to get this Aveda After-Sun Treatment Masque. Being a treatment masque it immediately attracted me as I like the idea of putting something thicker than shampoo or a leave in conditioner on my hair.

The intensive masque contains sunflower oil and vitamin B it certainly manages to put protein back into the hair, moisturises and acts as a defence against sunlight. I used it every few days on holiday after shampooing and conditioning applying it from root to tip; I left it for 2-5 mins then rinsed it all out. I must say it smelt delicious and certainly did the trick as my hair stayed conditioned, people even commented on my hair asking why it didn’t look dry!

As it is suitable for all hair types there seems to be nothing stopping you, at £15.00 you can purchase this direct from Aveda.co.uk.

Shear Splendor Hair Mask

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

Shear Splendor ConditionerIf you’re in the mood to give your hair a bit of TLC then dig into your pockets and purchase a conditioning mask to give dull locks a little lift. I love this Shear Splendor mask available at HQ Hair. It not only makes your hair feel fabulous but also helps repair and restore hair from within the shaft.

The product contains peptides, soy and botanical butter base, instantly helping dry and damaged hair look and feel soft, shiny and fabulous. This mask costs £18 but I recommend it over others, it tends to last quite a long time too as you don’t need a lot to get you locks back into shape!

Ojon Ultra Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

Ultra Hydrating Shampoo and ConditionerPamper your dry, damaged hair with this fabulous shampoo and conditioner that I found on QVC. My hair is hi-lighted and I use straighteners every day, so gets quite dry, especially on the longer bits at the front. I like QVC for beauty products as you can try them out and if you don’t like them for any reason, you can return them within 30 days and they will give you a full refund; you can’t go wrong!!

This product really caught my eye as it contains 100% pure Ojon oil from the tropical Ojon tree found in the tropical forests of Central America. Apparently, The Tawira Indians from this region have used this oil for centuries and they have been nicknamed “the people of beautiful hair”, so I thought I must give it a try!

Mixed with shea butter and sweet almond protein it hydrates your luscious locks to restore moisture and shine and I found it made my hair much more manageable and easier to de-tangle! Both shampoo and conditioner have a lovely light, nutty fragrance which lasts for ages.

It isn’t cheap at £34 plus P&P, but you only need a small amount so it will last for ages!
