Ojon Ultra Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner

January 24th, 2008 by Deb

Ultra Hydrating Shampoo and ConditionerPamper your dry, damaged hair with this fabulous shampoo and conditioner that I found on QVC. My hair is hi-lighted and I use straighteners every day, so gets quite dry, especially on the longer bits at the front. I like QVC for beauty products as you can try them out and if you don’t like them for any reason, you can return them within 30 days and they will give you a full refund; you can’t go wrong!!

This product really caught my eye as it contains 100% pure Ojon oil from the tropical Ojon tree found in the tropical forests of Central America. Apparently, The Tawira Indians from this region have used this oil for centuries and they have been nicknamed “the people of beautiful hair”, so I thought I must give it a try!

Mixed with shea butter and sweet almond protein it hydrates your luscious locks to restore moisture and shine and I found it made my hair much more manageable and easier to de-tangle! Both shampoo and conditioner have a lovely light, nutty fragrance which lasts for ages.

It isn’t cheap at £34 plus P&P, but you only need a small amount so it will last for ages!

Make your own chirstmas hair accessories!

December 18th, 2007 by Cleo

Chrimbo Hair AccessoryI found these adorable hair clips online and thought they would be the perfect hair accessories. I was really disappointed to find out that you couldn’t buy them but then I discovered instructions on how to make them! I used to make my own jewellery and hair accessories all the time so I thought this would be a really fun thing to do.

You can get the instructions from Girly Things. You will need an alligator clip which you can get from boots or any hair shop, some green, brown and red ribbon and some strong glue. The instructions are really easy to follow and there is a step by step picture guide too.

You could do the same thing with a brooch pin if you would rather make a brooch than hair clips. I found making these clips great fun and I think they would make a really thoughtful Christmas gift, so give it a go!

50s Christmas Glamour

December 11th, 2007 by Cleo

Hair StyleWe know that hair bands are hot at the moment but how do you wear them this party season to create a sophisticated look. Chloe Rhodes at the telegraph.co.uk visited top London hairstylist Carla Farrugia at Hari’s Salon and she showed her some glamorous party styles using an alice band a elastic hairband, curling tongs and some bobby pins. I love the bouffant half up-half down do. So often people think that the have to either have hair up or down for a party style and this style often gets neglected. The tonged curls look great and the hair at the front sweeped to the side gives you a whole new look by creating a 50s style fringe. I think this style would look fantastic with many of 40s and 50s inspired dresses that have appeared on the high street this Christmas.

Remington Wet2Straight

December 4th, 2007 by Cleo

Wet2StraightMy trusted straighteners that I have had since I first realised that frizzy hair was not cool have finally given up on my this week. However its actually been a blessing in disguise because my replacement straighteners have halved the time it takes me to do my hair when I get out of the shower. I’ve bought a pair of Remington ‘wet2straight’ straighteners. This fantastic time saving device allows you to straighten your hair from wet so where I would normally spend half an hour wrestling with a blow dryer to get my hair dry and in a condition ready to straighten, now I do not need to bother.

The wet to straight straighteners have holes along one side of the ceramic plates so steam is directed safely away from your face as the hair dries. They can reach 230 degrees so are hot enough to give you a perfect result and they work just as well on dry hair. There are wide and slim varieties available. I bought the wide ones because my hair is quite long but they are useless for straightening my fringe so if you have short hair or a fringe I recommend the narrow style. These straightens are less pricey than Ghds and a must have if you have lots of hair to manage and not much time. At Boots there is currently a 1/3 off so a pair will only set you back 39.98.

Last but not least is this casual open weave peaked beret, it again costs £12.99 and can pretty much be worn with any daytime outfit (probably not too good with an evening dress!). For all these accessories and more visit River Island in store or on line.

Kerastase Forcintense - A Rescue Programme For Severely Weakened Hair

November 4th, 2007 by Karen

Kerastase ForcintenseIf your hair is looking a little worse for wear after colouring and heat styling then you need to put the life back into it. I had very damaged hair and my hairdresser advised me to try Kerastase Forcintense 5 step program.

It’s a deep conditioning treatment to help reconstruct damaged hair leaving it with new found elasticity and shine. It really worked for me and left my hair in the best condition it has ever been in, and after going very blonde recently I am definitely in need of this wonder product again.

You can buy Kerastase Forcintense from Luxuryhaircare.co.uk for £19.40

Jordan Haircare

October 31st, 2007 by Emma F

Curling TongsWell what can I say, is there any marketing pie Jordan doesn’t want to get her finger in to?? She’s done it all, jewellery, accessories and now hair care!

HairdryerI personally think the new range looks as tacky as I would expect anything sold by her too look like, but I haven’t tried and tested for quality purposes, so if you are a fan of hers - which I’m clearly not, then give her the benefit of the doubt and try these new products.

StraightnersThey might work well, I can’t imagine they’re going to the job that top salon products do, but it may be worth giving them ago for the price alone.

Superdrug is currently stocking the range and the have curling tongs for £12.99, a hairdryer with attachments for £19.99 and a sleek pair of straightners for £19.99. It appears from the Superdrug website that the hairdryer is currently out of stock so someone out there must be loving it!! You can check out each product in the range either on line or pop down to your nearest Superdrug to see for yourself.
