Instant Glam

February 22nd, 2008 by Claire

Accessorize Head BandFancy adding an extra fashion accessory to your look? Why not go for instant glam by adding a hair band but keeping your hair style simple.

There are plenty of styles in the shops to experiment with to suit the look that you are going for. Pick one with a bow on in your favourite colour or go for an over the top one with fancy twists and beads! I have found loads on the accessorize website that I have fallen in love with, but this one in particular really caught my attention.

This Gem Butterfly Alice Band is £8.00 and would really finish off an evening outfit!

Shear Splendor Hair Mask

February 21st, 2008 by Aimi

Shear Splendor ConditionerIf you’re in the mood to give your hair a bit of TLC then dig into your pockets and purchase a conditioning mask to give dull locks a little lift. I love this Shear Splendor mask available at HQ Hair. It not only makes your hair feel fabulous but also helps repair and restore hair from within the shaft.

The product contains peptides, soy and botanical butter base, instantly helping dry and damaged hair look and feel soft, shiny and fabulous. This mask costs £18 but I recommend it over others, it tends to last quite a long time too as you don’t need a lot to get you locks back into shape!

Grow Hair Faster With FAST!

January 27th, 2008 by Deb

FAST Shampoo and ConditionerHave you had your hair cut off and so wished you hadn’t? I did it last year. In a mad moment I said to my hairdresser just cut it off, so she did! My neat, shoulder-length bob was transformed into a short, cropped style which I liked at the time, but it soon grew out of style and I regretted having the snip. I looked on the Internet to find something, anything that would make it grow; I didn’t find anything and have had to wait months for it to grow out.

This product caught my eye so I thought I should share it with any of you who are looking for the same thing. FAST is a product to increase hair growth on existing hair, it isn’t a hair loss product. It claims that if you use the product every day, and your hair normally grows 1 inch per month, using this it will grow 1½ inches per month. Over 6 months that’s an extra 3 inches of luscious long hair!! They say that it works on all hair types, on both men and women and can be used with any other hair products. I am interested to hear if this really does work; let me know!!

Hollow Heart BarretteI came across this gorgeous sparkly, heart shaped hair clip while I was getting some ideas for a wedding I am off to in June. It has a silver base with approximately 32 clear coloured crystals, measures approximately 55mm x 33mm and is only £5.00!!

What a bargain; this would add a bit of bling to any hairstyle or outfit, a lovely accessory for your valentine date!! Check out this site www.turquoiseweddings.co.uk for a huge range of really lovely and inexpensive fashion jewellery, hair accessories, including combs, tiaras, pins and grips etc. etc. suitable for short, medium or long hair; the choice is endless!

Ojon Ultra Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner

January 24th, 2008 by Deb

Ultra Hydrating Shampoo and ConditionerPamper your dry, damaged hair with this fabulous shampoo and conditioner that I found on QVC. My hair is hi-lighted and I use straighteners every day, so gets quite dry, especially on the longer bits at the front. I like QVC for beauty products as you can try them out and if you don’t like them for any reason, you can return them within 30 days and they will give you a full refund; you can’t go wrong!!

This product really caught my eye as it contains 100% pure Ojon oil from the tropical Ojon tree found in the tropical forests of Central America. Apparently, The Tawira Indians from this region have used this oil for centuries and they have been nicknamed “the people of beautiful hair”, so I thought I must give it a try!

Mixed with shea butter and sweet almond protein it hydrates your luscious locks to restore moisture and shine and I found it made my hair much more manageable and easier to de-tangle! Both shampoo and conditioner have a lovely light, nutty fragrance which lasts for ages.

It isn’t cheap at £34 plus P&P, but you only need a small amount so it will last for ages!

Make your own chirstmas hair accessories!

December 18th, 2007 by Cleo

Chrimbo Hair AccessoryI found these adorable hair clips online and thought they would be the perfect hair accessories. I was really disappointed to find out that you couldn’t buy them but then I discovered instructions on how to make them! I used to make my own jewellery and hair accessories all the time so I thought this would be a really fun thing to do.

You can get the instructions from Girly Things. You will need an alligator clip which you can get from boots or any hair shop, some green, brown and red ribbon and some strong glue. The instructions are really easy to follow and there is a step by step picture guide too.

You could do the same thing with a brooch pin if you would rather make a brooch than hair clips. I found making these clips great fun and I think they would make a really thoughtful Christmas gift, so give it a go!

50s Christmas Glamour

December 11th, 2007 by Cleo

Hair StyleWe know that hair bands are hot at the moment but how do you wear them this party season to create a sophisticated look. Chloe Rhodes at the telegraph.co.uk visited top London hairstylist Carla Farrugia at Hari’s Salon and she showed her some glamorous party styles using an alice band a elastic hairband, curling tongs and some bobby pins. I love the bouffant half up-half down do. So often people think that the have to either have hair up or down for a party style and this style often gets neglected. The tonged curls look great and the hair at the front sweeped to the side gives you a whole new look by creating a 50s style fringe. I think this style would look fantastic with many of 40s and 50s inspired dresses that have appeared on the high street this Christmas.

Remington Wet2Straight

December 4th, 2007 by Cleo

Wet2StraightMy trusted straighteners that I have had since I first realised that frizzy hair was not cool have finally given up on my this week. However its actually been a blessing in disguise because my replacement straighteners have halved the time it takes me to do my hair when I get out of the shower. I’ve bought a pair of Remington ‘wet2straight’ straighteners. This fantastic time saving device allows you to straighten your hair from wet so where I would normally spend half an hour wrestling with a blow dryer to get my hair dry and in a condition ready to straighten, now I do not need to bother.

The wet to straight straighteners have holes along one side of the ceramic plates so steam is directed safely away from your face as the hair dries. They can reach 230 degrees so are hot enough to give you a perfect result and they work just as well on dry hair. There are wide and slim varieties available. I bought the wide ones because my hair is quite long but they are useless for straightening my fringe so if you have short hair or a fringe I recommend the narrow style. These straightens are less pricey than Ghds and a must have if you have lots of hair to manage and not much time. At Boots there is currently a 1/3 off so a pair will only set you back 39.98.

Now the weather has cooled right down its time to dig out those winter woollies and start wrapping up warm. I’m personally loving the pink hat, its enough to brighten up anyone’s day! It is a sequin beret and costs just £12.99.

River Island Hats and Accessories

If you want to show off a new hair colour or style then you could opt for some ear muffs, these black fluffy ones also £12.99 have a diamanté trim headband and will certainly keep your ears from freezing over!

Last but not least is this casual open weave peaked beret, it again costs £12.99 and can pretty much be worn with any daytime outfit (probably not too good with an evening dress!). For all these accessories and more visit River Island in store or on line.
